Comparable to the JL W3
ORIGINAL: Audiophile
I hate to say it but compairing a MOJO to a 12w3 is like compairing apples to cows, there two drivers build for compleatly different purposes. You wouldn't compair a top fuel dragster to a focus would you? Dont get me wrong JL make a good product but i just cant stand it when people claim they make the best equipment out there because its the most expensive thing in Crutchfield. And again i'm not saying thats what your claming its just a pet peev of mine. For as many years as ive been in audio this is the statment ive heard the most, it makes me wish the general "consumer" population wouldn't be so brainwashed...

We did an experiment where we directly replaced a Memphis "mojo" with a 12w3 and while it was not quite as loud, it was more precise bass which sounded better. JL subs can definitely put out but their specialty is definitely sound quality over pure noise.

go with the W3 you will be vey happy wen you can turn it all the way up with no distortion, menphis , audioque , and fi, arnt going to sound as "clean" they are louder however, W3's will be very clean and perform very good as far as Spl goes, i would get a better box, one thats ported and tuned, im getting this guy - ecce@mertrocast.com to build be a custom box for my 2 W612's

Im not going to sit here and say JL is the best because its the most expensive. I AM going to say JL is ONE OF the best because of the quality of their products and their dedication to "high class" audio systems, not just making noise to impress a bunch of homies in the pep boys parking lot. Their stuff also has excellent resale value. They manufacture things and tell you wants important. No BS max wattage ratings when pigs fly at 16 volts on their amps, they don't advertise how inefficient a sub is because it uses a 12 pound magnet or anything like that.
Sure you can find subs online that you need to drive 200 miles to get service for and need to go by a bunch of people online to find out how they sound, and sure certain odd ball brands can have products here and there that have a better product across the board, but good luck finding a company whos products across the board are better than JL.

^^^^ very easy to find a better company dd/cactus/aq/tc/treo/ so on and so on if u want sq then look no further then a 9100 series and i assure you that jl will and has been put to shame by this sub and they cost the same but dd is far superior in parts and quality.jl quality?? thats a first for me yes there decent but overpriced by far. Quality control???? really i bet it says that on there website. there just like rf and so on. there mass produced so there can be no real quality control basiclly push out as much as u can as fast as u can. they are only thought to be one of the best cause every kid and his moma has it in there trunk (which dosent mean there good it just means thats all they know)
The only ones that are hand assembled are the Dub7's. And the W1's are made in china, I don't know if those are hand assembled but if they are it doesn't matter, they're are chinese hand assembled.
JL can always be beat. I have never said it's junk equipment. I wouldn't mind having JL in my car. But I would never pay more than they are worth, if a 1000/1 was $300, sure i'd be all over one.
eD's 13Av2 is a W7 eater, it's definatly louder and sounds just as good if not better. And at $300, well over half the price of a W7.... Uhhh yes please!
And the only reason their resale vale is so high is because of what disturbed stated, everyone knows them, they are everywhere. Hell the last shop I worked at there was kids applying there saying they deserved the job because they loved JL audio and watched Unique Whips all the time so they already know all about JL and they know they could sell it all day.
JL is like Abercrombie, it's expensive but everyone knows what it is. Only certain people that like to waste money on clothes that expensive can afford to wear it all the time, and when people see big name people or celebrities with it, they all want it. JL is more of a trend than anything.

W1's are cheap, The w3's are made in USA, not sure if they are hand made or not. I wouldnt pay crutchfield prices, but I walked off with a 10w3v3 in a JL box with an A1400 for 500$ cash. Pretty god damn good if ya ask me. THe shop I deal with is owned by an engineer who designed parts for divisions of AAMP. I have seen quite a few of their installs and they go above and beyond what other shops in the area do, and simply dont sell junk products. Eclipse and JL primarily.
And last I heard, the 13Av2 is a W7 Knockoff. Wasnt there quite a bit of concern over infringement on Jl patents?
Either way, I could care less. I am more than happy with my JL equipment, as well as all the other installs I have done with JL. Im not saying eD is junk, but there sure isn't that same level of product support as their is for JL, at least in my area. If I am buying audio equipment, I really like to listen to it first.

Far more support from eD, first off 5 year warranty. You can't beat that. Only way JL beats eD in support is if you blow up a JL woofer, you take it back into the shop (assuming you bought it from a shop and not on ebay or an online store) and they generally swap it out. (eD if you buy off ebay or even locally, you can transfer the warranty from owner to owner, JL would never even consider that, plus don't you have to have a recipt of it being installed by a certified location otherwise the warranty is void?) eD doesn't have retailers so you have to send it into them, but on the flip side everything they sell comparable is half or less than half the price of JL equipment. You can't show up at JL walk in the showroom and relax in the demo room watching music dvd's and have the owner of the company go grab you a soda and come back in and shoot the breeze and demo things for you. Nor can you walk through the warehouse, the production area, or be shown a product in development (13Av2) when it's the very first prototype and snap a couple pictures of it, they will throw you out of the building and have the FBI on you making sure you don't post the pictures anywhere or else they will take you to court.
I would put a 13Av2 against a Dub7 anyday of the week, hands down. Ported, sealed throw them in two identical enclosures, you pay for the W7 I pay for the 13A, we'll see who spent their money better.
And yes W3, W6 and W7 are all made in America, W7's are the only ones hand assembled though.

Infringement because the basket had visual similarities. Every subwoofer does, theres only so many ways you can design a basket. You can't make one look like a desk lamp.

^^^^ tru but what u just described is jl audio when is it not broken?? ive seen more coil problems with w7's then kove had with there armagedons. im not a jl beater but i have yet to see or hear anything that they produce worth what they want for it. just like seight said ur paying for that logo on the cone nothing more better then avg quality but far from top of the chain.
However, I still have yet to see anybody here in NJ that carries them

Have you ever even seen or heard an ED product in real life???
Most of us that are commenting have some experience with both brands, but it seems like you have never heard an ED product...
