Ok so i know there are alot of people here who bash the mach 1000. i love my mach 1000, but of course I always want a little more lol has anyone here changed only the subs? i can geet two alpine type "r"s very cheep. 75 for the pair, question is would it sound better or would the amps not have enough power to bump the new subs????

 

the problem you have replacing the subs is that ford/jbl likes to make their woofers at funny impedences/resistances. Their woofers are 8 ohms, your type r's are probably 4. The only way they would work is if they are dual 4 ohm voice coils that you could put in series to equal 8 ohms.

Nobody talks trash on the mach systems except that the head units always break.......... ALWAYS... you can brighten the mach systems up amazingly with a new deck and some tweeking.

 

+1, buy a decent deck and tweek it, you'd be surprised.

 

the subs are dvc. As for the new head unit question, I bought a kenwood excelon kvt-815dvd. My only question on this is how to hook it up. ive read in other posts trying to figure it out with no luck. someone told me i need to get a harness with rca jacks, but my factory has none? If i could just find some one who could tell me which wires are which behind the factory deck that would be fantastic. also i know that my subs are powered by the 4 amps in the trunk, but behind my seat is two others? I'm guessing my tweeters are powered by thedeck, however if they are that means i'm using all 4 channels of my deck for my tweeters and have no where else to run the mids and subs to? i have hooked up stereos for the past 15 years but this thing is mind boggeling....

Oh ya my car is a 2002 mustang gt convertible.

come guys some one must have installed a deck with mach 1000 and got it all to work!!!!!!!
