Default Alternator Whine...

I had a really bad case of this in my 87 and followed me to my 93, I swapped out the deck that I installed for a new one. Went away but now it comes and goes, normally over bumps or driving on a rough road it will come on, I can turn the deck off and back on and most times it doesnt have the whine, until another bump. Anyways, its a pioneer headunit, thats grounded where there are two other grounds grounded to the metal dash frame, you have to get a 6 or 7mm 1/4 drive to get at it but it was the best thing i could get at, i tried grounding the other deck in 2 different spots which didnt work but maybe that would with this new deck. \

Opinions? I just got my first pair of 12's and i like them alot, theyre powerbase which is made by alphasonik, theres a alphasonic dealer really close to me, so i bought the 12's, bassworks box and powerbass amp(800.2) for 565. Only just under half gain these pound like mad.

I couldnt figure anything else out to try and put the amps somewhere. The owner of the store I went to said not to mount the amp on the box, but ive seen it before. My pioneer 3 ways in the front cannot keep up with the subs not even right now wait till I turn up the subs.. and my 6x9's dont fit in this car [:@]

The fact that you've seen it before doesn't mean it's right... You shouldn't mount amps straight to the box.

Looks like you're running your RCA's alongside the power cable, and also looks like your RCA cable has a pretty tight bend right at the connector (Maybe they're a bit loose?)

And for gods sake... Use something to hold that box down. If you crash at 30 mph, that thing's likely to kill you...

the power cable is run on the driver side, rcas and speaker wires are up the passenger side. Rcas are tight at amps, the box is tight up against the hatch. My friend went back to the place where i bought the subs and asked the guy about it, he said i might need a inline noise filter or something i cant remember... i still think its something to do with a ground..

try resanding ground(for amp too), but my money's on the RCAs. are they high end RCAs? or radioshack RCAs? either way, you shouldn't run them anywhere near the power wire(which you said you didn't, but check to see if they cross a power wire or something). but if their radioshack RCAs, buy a nice set of RCA's.

btw, what's making the noise? the subs or the door speakers?

try a new set of rca's just temporaraly wired above the carpet to see what happens. Also try grounding the outer shield of the rcaa with a jumper wire to see if the rca grounds are bad. Pioneers have a tendency to have bad grounds.

If that doesn't help then try disconnecting the rca's from the deck, with the deck/amp on and see if you still have noise. We need to figure out if it is the HU, or something after(rca's, amp, bad ground ect).

Have you upgraded your big 3 yet? The ford factory grounds suck. I cover this a bit on page 7 er 8 of my cardomain page

That reminds me of how Best Buy set up my old system. They tied the rce to the power wire. the noise was terrible.

I have not had a problem with any system I installed having noise since I left BBY. If you have good equipment, and good cables you have nothing to worry about even if they are next to one another.

big 3 is the main stock power wires. The stock wires are thin, and the connections can corrode over time.
