Shallow subs?
I've been plotting a very stealth audio setup for my thunderbird. Shallow subs would make the project much easier. I'm wondering if anyone here has used them compaired to a conventional sub and how the sound quality was.
Right now, I've been looking into eD's 10" shallow subs, but I havn't seen any reviews on them.
The plan is to build a very low profile sealed, box, ensuring there is still enough air space, making sure the box is very rigid and sealed, sliding it into the recessed area of the trunk, and covering it with some very thin board, 1/8" pressboard or something similar, and carpeting it.

Honestly as soon as I read the topic I was going to mention Elemental Design's shallow subs. I can see your already heading in that direction. I have two of their shallow tens in my Scion Tc and I couldn't be happier. I have a Nine2x amp running them which isn't nearly all they can handle. I had two Infinity 10's in my old truck and I can't really tell a difference in performance. the tech guys at ED are very helpful. Maybe talk to them. I would also suggest not using pressboard for anything. I'd stick with MDF. It comes in 1/4 inch. Just make sure the box you make is exactly what the sub requires. A lot of people ignore that but it really makes a difference. Good Luck
