Default Running new wire through 08 door

I don't have a shaker system and I'm installing components in the front doors and amp them. Anybody find an easy way to run speaker wire through the door? The rubber holding the wires in between the door and car really sucks. The side going into the car is one big plastic plug under neath the rubber. So then I can't run wire through it! Why do they make this so difficult? Only thing I think I have to do is drill a hole but I'd really like to use the harness already going through

I'll be interested in hearing how you do this as well since I just bought components to put in my 08 also. When I ran the wire for my sub amp I ended up drilling a hole in the firewall and using a new grommet in it, not a bad thing to do just kind of annoying. They make these things difficult because they don't want people working on them! [:'(]

That part wasn't bad, I found a un-used grommet on the passenger side! I'm ending up cutting a hole and using the coat hanger. Still not the way I wanted to do since now I'll have a wire in between the door and car. [:'(]

Did you use 0 gauge power wire when you ran it through the firewall. I seem to remember we found a grommet on the pass side, but we were not able to get my 0 ga wire through it, so we just ended up drilling and putting in a new grommet. Doesn't really matter either way I guess, just curious.

No it was 4 gauge. 0 seems like something for a competition system. Not looking for that.
