Default Alpine Type R's, help with subs and amp

So I have the stock Mach 460 sound system, minus the head unit. I put in a Pioneer 5900 headunit recently. Anyway, I don't know anything about car audio, but I want some subs. My friend is selling me his used 2 Alpine Type R 10"s in a box with an Alpine V12 amp. Should I take it to someone I know to have it installed? And is there anything special I need to do? I have been hearing stuff about problems because the Mach system is a "PREMIUM" system, so you have to wire a special way.... and crap like that. But many people say there is no problems with the mach system and aftermarket equipment. Can I get some insight on this? Thanks guys.

Andrew

the mach system is a premium system and it has a couple of funny numbers in here and there that make it a little different to work with then a standard system. But if you know a couple ins-and-outs of it the system is actually one of the easiest to work with that I have found. You will be fine adding a sub and amp to what you have already and it will fill in nicely what the mach is missing. Page 2 of my cardomain site is dedicated to integrating a deck into the mach system, does yours sound ok now or no bass?

As for the subs, you would probably be fine installing it yourself if you know what wires go where. At first for me, the whole thing was too much, but one thing at a time and its easy. Running wires is the hardest part for me. Should just be remote turn on wire from head unit to the amp so the amp turns on when the head unit turns on, power wire from the battery to the amp, ground wire from bare metal on the body to the amp, and speaker wire from the subs/box to the amp. Oh, also an RCA from the amp to the back of the head unit. Crimp/Solder the connections, should work fine. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, just have a friend help or you can pay someone to do it for you. I just have friends that know what they're doing help and kinda pick up on it so that I know what to do in the future, either that or come here and ask people. Many people here are willing to help with pretty much whatever you need. Good luck with your install and those subs will hit hard... Going to need some big gauge wire for them subs too. 500rms each... Have fun with that.

Ignore this I guess, sorry if I misunderstood something or missed the subject completely, just trying to help...
