Default Ideas for a classic 65 Fastback

I have started a build on a 65 Fastback custom. I need some ideas on the sound and maybe a visual system. I have in mind building a custom console and would like to use maybe a 12" monitor (LCD) with a seperate DVD stereo. So far I have the holes cut for 6X9 speaers in the fiberglass seat delete and plan to use a set of kick panel speakers that will accepta set of 6.5" round speakers. I think I can work in a sub somewheres in the back deck, or mayb in the trunk, ifit willwork their. I'm open for ideas.

Welcome to the audio/visual section of the forum.

When you get started with somehting like this it is first best to answer a couple questions.

How much do you want to spend?

What type of music do you listen to?

Can you do any fabrication with fiberglass?

I would honestly try to lay another layer of glass where you cut the 6x9 holes. 6.5's will sound better and with a sub you do no need the extra bass a 6x9 puts out versus a 6.5.

I build my own kicks for my 65 and I couldn't be more satisfied. I can post some pics if you like, but I basically started with a stock 65 kick panel, used some dowls and a speaker cutout and laid some glass down. I covered with carpet and they look great! When I get my black carpet they will look almost stock. The speaker options by building your own are much better then buying a prefab pair of kicks.

Thanks,to answer the questions,
A thousand or two
Rock and Roll all the way, 70's and 80's are my favorite years
I am experienced with fiberglass and may have a couple gallons stored, not sure if I have MEKP though but I think the auto stores will have it. Also I can fab just about anything you can think of out of steel.
So, I am thinking about a custom console and a seperate LCD screen (I think a 12" would be nice), CD-DVD head unit, maybe a couple gauges, drink holder, and a door storage area. Need some ideas and what is good. 30 years ago I could have told anyone what was the best, but I'm not up on things now.

If you build yourself a console or cut the dash to fit this....

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6080$1000

You would spend half of your budget but have a great source unit for both audio and video.

That with a little setup like this...

Comps: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3341$200 (in custom glassed kick panels)

Comp amp: http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductC...;idproduct=382$130

Sub Amp: http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductC...;idproduct=380$200

Sub: https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...iew.shopscript$260 (BL12 dual 2 ohm)

That is a great setup for $1800! You could get some better comps if you could stretch the budget a little more and spend around $2000.
