Default Removing Factory Radio

Hi, I have a 2002 coupe v6. I was wondering if anyone could give me some help on how to remove the factory radio.

Thanks!

My advice is to go to Crutchfield.com and purchase a Mastersheet for your vehicle or see if you can download the PDF file for free somewhere. A mastersheet will give you instructions step by step with pictures included.

Pop off the trim around the shifter and unplug the cig. lighter.

Then the pop off the trim around the radio( it may be tough when you get around the air vents to pop the trim off, so take a platic panel tool or a flat head screw driver and stick it between the dash and the trim around the radio).

Then disconnect the three harnesses for traction, fog light, rear defrost button.

Remove the 2-9/32(7mm) bolts.

Get these at your local auto parts store

Follow the instructions and it will let you slide the OEM stereo out. Unplug the two harneses and the Antenna lead.
There you go, the stereo is out. If you have a CD player you'll need to repeat the process to remove it BEFORE you remove the trim panel.

If you're looking to put in an aftermarket that requires special brackets there are (4) not (2) screws that need to be removed from the trim panel to get it off.

(2) are underthe head unit (above the CD player if youhave one or the cubby hole if not), (2) you have to remove the shifter boot trim (for manual) for access. not sure what's involved to get at them with an auto shifter. Remove all four screws, then gently tug on the trim piece at the topit will unpop from the vent area. There's a metal guide bracket that may also need to be removed/modified to fit the aftermarket brackets.

Here is the problem with that Derf00. That would on a 2000 or older dash but the 2001+ dash is a double din radio. IT DOESNT USE FORD KEYS.

But on the other hand ford keys are a must for any tool box if you do car audio installation, but they just dont work for this thread.
