Default Replacing the Mach audio system

I've got the Mach460 system in my '02 GT and would like to upgrade it. It seems the headunit, amps, and even speakers specs are all unique to Ford and is tough to replace any one piece with aftermarket stuff.. ok fine I guess the "easiest" way to go is to just swap out EVERYTHING (headunit, all amps, all speakers) with aftermarket stuff which I don't have a problem doing.. most of that stuff I already have from my last car anyway

What I was wondering,, could I at least use the factory wiring harness of the Mach system to link the aftermarket headunit/amps/speakers? I know the feed from headunit to amp doesn't have RCA plugs etc, but maybe that can be tweaked. I'd REALLY like to avoid gutting the whole interior, ripping out the factory sterio harness and replace with aftermarket if I don't have to.. And as a bonus of using the factory harness, if I ever sell the car I could plug the stock stuff back into the car pretty easy. So, can I use the factory harness to run an aftermarket system?

One exception probably is the amp power cables aren't heavy enough gauge to handle a higher wattage amp so I'd upgrade that part.

Any tips anyone?
