Default Just got a head unit need help installing....

Hey guys I just bought a new head unit, Its a Pioneer DEH-P3900MP.

I can post some pics if needed but I'm not exactly sure how to install this into my 1984 mustang gt. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heres the converter I'm using, it matches up well, but I'm pretty sure my car only has 3 speakers up front.

Wires from the back of the headunit.

Ok heres where I think the converter plugs into, it fits so thats why im figuring. The only thing is this bracket only has 5 wires going to it. The converter has 8 wires coming from the head unit.

Just a quick shot of my car.

do not hook anything up unitl you do some wiring. Your factory radio used what was called a common ground system which means that speakers will share a ground. Hooking up a floating ground radio to this wiring system will normally just make bad noise but can also blow your deck. It has been a long time since I had my hands in one of these but there are two ways to go about it. If you have an idea about stereos and know what you are looking for you can trace the grounds and find where they are common and seperate them. Sometimes they run all the ground wires up to the hrns, and you will see 4 wires going into the ground location on the hrns and it is as simple as cutting them and wiring them to each of the decks grounds. Often they are common in the kick panels and it takes some hunting to find them. The easier and faster way to do it is to just run new speaker wires to each speaker.

Below the steering wheel? can you get a pic of it?
