Default Aux button on my Shaker 500 stereo

Hey guys,

There is a button on the Shaker 500 head unit in my 2006 Mustang labeled aux. What is that for?

Is there some way that I can connect an "auxilary" input to the back of the head unit, for my mp3 player or something?

That means you have the compability to add and aux source. The aux button is there because all the factory radio are the same and some cars have sat. radio or an aux input(in the center console). So ford doesnt have to replace the radio if you got that opinion from the dealership.

iSimple makes an ipod or aux input interface for the 05 and up mustangs. If you have an ipod the interface will display everything on the factory radio display or if you just want an aux input you just control everthing on the mp3 player and it displays aux on your radio.

$150 plus installation for iSimple, I could get a new Alpine Cd player with aux input and preamp outs for that price.

There's gotta be a less expensive option.

What year did they start adding the ipod jack in the console? I know the 2009 I test drove had it.

I think it might have started in 2007 or 2008.

Do some hunting on the internet for the aux/ipod inputs for the factory headunits you may find something cheaper. You will just have to look for it.

I just installed the iSimple product model #ISFD73 into my 2006 Mustang with a Shaker 500 Stereo. The cost, $135.00 CDN. (At Future Shop which is owned by Best Buy)

It took me about 1 hour to do including taking apart the car and replacing everything. This was a pretty easy project.

Very easy to do, Flipped the #1 Switch to "ON" and the rest went easy. I would recommend this product.

Yeah that isimple is very nice. If you want to keep your factory radio.

Yes and very easy to install it is just plug and play.
