Downward. Less sound reflection (time delayed) than pointing it towards the back.

You do need to consider at what Htz you plan on cutting off at. Under 100-150 Definitely downward. 150-300 towards the back should be okay and ever better since you won't muffle the higher frequencies. You will still have a delayed sound though unless you have time phase correction built into the amp.

damnit man your messin everything up!!!! I had been planning on doing a rear firing sub... I would not imagine sending much above 130 hz to a 10. I am going to build enclosures to go with the 6.5s up front to fill the mid bass.

kicker L7 hands down. i have mine hooked up to a 500rms kenwood amp and i get loads of bass. perfect for my rock/ hardcore music and it can fit in a truck i think. you can get a complete setup like mine for around 500-600 depending on what else you put in

kicker is weak. go with the mach 5. it pounds, trust me. i have the 12" and its getting 1100 watts daily in a .8 cu^ft sealed box and my trunk and mirror are ****ed!! i cant wait to go ported in less than a month!!!!!!!!
