Default Stock Ford Audio Unit Removal Question

I was perusing through Ford's directions of how to remove the stock audio unit and its says, "prior to removal of the audio unit, it is necessary to upload the audio unit configuration information to the diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new audio unit once installed." I am pulling the stock unit from the car to add JVC's newest DVD/NAV from Crutchfield, which will be here later today. Do I still need to do this or will Crutchfield's installation material cover this? Or is this just a lot of hot air from Ford about nothing? Thanks.

I am sure those instructions are assuming that you are going to be re-installing the unit later. If you are pulling it out there is no reason to save its settings I would think
