Another Shaker 1000 Problem
i was just curious if anyone knows what's going on. every once in a while, when i burn an mp3 cd, a few songs would act like they are trying to load/play (the title would appear and the time would be at ":00") but it would stay like that for about 4-5 seconds; then just a fraction of a second of the song would play, then it would skip to the next song. i've tried burning a few cds with the same tracks and usually the same songs would do the same thing, and i would sometimes get an additional song that would be fine on one cd, yet start doing that on the new one. it just started doing this recently; some of my older mp3 cds that have the 'now messed-up songs' worked fine, so i'm not thinking it's an encoding problem. there aren't any scratches on the disc (i've ruled that possibility out anyway since the same songs 'skip' when they are burnt onto different sections of the disc). i use dBpowerAMP and encode at 160kbps. any thoughts?
thanks (sorry for the long explanation too, btw)

It sounds more likely that it's the player at this point. I was hoping to find you had just used some cheap media. I guess there's still the possibility you just got a bad batch of Sony media, but aside from that I'd be leaning towards the player as the problem.
i was kind of hoping the media i was using was the problem the cd-r's were from different batches too. i wish there was an easy fix for this (like i was typing the id3 tags wrong or something), but it does sound like it could be more of a player problem. thanks for your input, misbehavin; i appreciate it
You have two possible points of failure (the player, or the burner/media), and its easy to rule one out.
You said you've been using the same media for years, so that begs the question: how old is your burner?
These things usually do have a shelf life, and laptops are notorious for going bad sooner than desktop burners. Try using a newer burner that has a stronger laser, or like Harold Pittman said, try lowering the burning speed as well.
