help with inline fuse

Default help with inline fuse

i bought light strip to put in my car and it's supposed to plug into your cigarette lighter to get the power but i wanted to cut that off and wire it to my fuse box or battery...

it had a positive and negative side fyi but i dont know how to wire in a inline fuse or what fuse thing to buy

can anyone help me out?

sure, go to an autoparts store, they sell inline fuse holders. A few bucks at most. Put the fuse as close to the source(fuse box) of power as possible. You can look in your owners manual for an empty or unused fuse or if it is a low current device(LEDs not NEON) you may use the radio/accessory fuse location. To do this you can either by a piggy back fuse tap(gay), or just strip 3/4 inch of the positive wire and wrap it around the blade of the fuse(doesnt matter which side since you are adding inline fuse) and stick it back in place. Works great. For the ground, use a crimp ring terminal and use the ground bolt at the fuse box. Hope this helps!

I would also suggest that you get a switch while you are at the autoparts store, agian a couple of bucks and easy to install. As cute as they are there will be a time when you will want to turn them off sooner or later(hopefully sooner).

well it did come with a whole control deck part but that would not stay put
i did it all today and there was no good spot to mount it on the drivers side

so i said screw it and took it all out lol there goes like 20 bucks
