Oblivious to Radios
I am completely retarded when it comes to stereo systems...I can admit this.
My problem is that my 2004 Mustang came with the Mach mp3 player but not the mach speakers or any of the good stuff. I love the actual player itself but I would liketo have alittle more kick.
Is is worth upgrading to the mach 460 or 1000 system. I don't really want to change the face plate of the system, I know I am werid but I like it to look some-what factory. To add an amp and all that do I have to change the player itself?
Like I said, I know NOTHING about systems so I don't want to get ripped of. Any help would be awesome!

I'm pretty sure your stock head unit doesn't have pre-outs (non-amplified speaker signals), so upgrading your speakers or adding subs isn't a fun job, as you'll have to splice the wire's in your rear, and take the amplified signal and use a different installation method of amps (using the 12volt connection looking thing on most amps-looks similar to that of connections on your computer)
If you don't intend on getting amps in your car, changing your speakers won't do much, since head units usually put out a max of 20 RMS per speaker, and aftermarket speakers require more power than that (underpowering speakers will ruin them)
You can get something that sounds better, louder and hits harder that's easier to install with less hassle / more reliability by going with an aftermarket headunit. For the price of a Mach 1000 installed from a dealership.. You can put in a system that makes most teen's around here jealous.
