Default Wiring Subs

I'm taking the subs out of my eclipse and putting them into my Lightning, I never ever drive the eclipse so I figured I'd put the system to use, I was wondering if anyone knew how I should wire it all up, I've searched for a few hours, cant get a great idea of what to do, but here is what I have....

Rockford Fosgate 401s 2 Channel 1200 watt amp
2 Rockford Fosgate HE2 10's

They are Dual 4 Ohm subs. I'd like to maximize this setup, they way it was hooked it inside the box in my eclipse was weird, i only hooked up 1 side of the amp to 1 sub, but the 2 subs were in no way connected, and the sub the amp was ran to was hooked up different than the other sub, when the guys installed that sub box a few years ago they said they would hook it up right.

I checked the subs, 1 of them did not even appear to be hooked up at all, and the sub that was hooked to the amp was hooked up as follows: - to - and then + and + to the amp. that was a weird wiring setup. Any help would be great, i have a few pictures ill add if someone can tell me which way to go with. thanks

if you want to bridge your amp wire your subs up at a 4 ohm load. if you want to run both channels wire each sub at a 2 ohm load.

Like he said.

You have the option of wiring it to 4ohm or to 2ohm. 2 ohm will be louder but you need to make sure your amp is stable at that impedance. It should be, but I would double check just to be sure.

Feel free to PM me with any questions. I used to work as an installer for circuit city and I have done both my cars and 6 or 7 of my friends cars.

wiring them at 2 ohms doesn't make them louder. it generally lets you put more power to the subs, but that is with a mono amp. a two channel has more power out put in a bridged mode at 4 ohms.
