Default Car Computer

I was pondering and wondering what would one have to do in order to add a car computer (in the truck or under the dash). I saw articles online, and I'm just wondering if anyone in the mustang community has done this.

I don't really think it's much different than building a computer for your home. I've seen a couple of these done before. You just have to have a screen that accepts the signal from the video card on the computer. Several places online sell these. You'll also have to have a power inverter. I think those can be found about anywhere. If I were building the system I'd make sure I got a durable hard drive because it will be under a lot of shock from the roads. Other than that, you should be good to go. Maybe a wireless mouse and keyboard if you wanted it, but if you get a touch screen you wouldn't even need that. I think there are also devices to put the computer into hibernation mode when you turn the car off, but I don't know if it's hardware or software.

Stay away from that they just create noise and waste power.

DC-DC computer power supplies only
