just buy normal CD-R discs. Pop them in your computer(you need a cd burner). Put all of the songs on it that you want(you can literally fit hundreds of songs on a single cd). pop disc into player. enjoy.

you can burn its as a data disc with all your mp3 songs on there....should be able to fit a good 120 songs on it.

right, but only the 500 system will play that type of disc, not the 460.

I have a 2002 with the Mach 460. I have a bunch of CD-R discs I put songs on and the unit won't play them. These are not MP3 files, but normal CD's I burned.

My old 2001 Galant had no problems playing these CD's and my fiance's 2003 Jeep Liberty plays them as well.

That tells me the Mach 460 must be real old stuff. The only other CD player that wouldn't play these CD's was my 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo.

The manual for the Ford talks about an MP3 version of the radio in the dash. Does anyone have this version from 2002? What about the Mach 1000?

Sorry if this is a little bit off track from the original post.

the 460 definantly plays CD-R's. Are you sure your 'closing' the disk after you burn it? Its true that many cd players wont play CD-R's but 90% of my discs are burned.
