Default iPod, how did you mount yours?

I have an 07 so I have the auxiliary input jack in the console. If I plug an iPod in there what do I do with the cord running to the iPod. I'm assuming I'll be using some kind of suction mount thats mounted to the dash. I don't really know what's available or the best solution.

What have you guys done to mount your iPods. Do you have any pics. Do you navigate using the iPod or the radio itself. I guess by these questions you can tell I know very little about this subject. I don't even have an iPod yet but I'm getting tired of using CDs with their limited capacity. I have about 2K songs. Any suggestions on which iPod to get? I'm only interested in the music so it can be a pretty basic iPod. I just want one thats connectable to my input jack.

Thanks guys.

you could use velcro to hold the ipod in place? not sure if I spelled that right.
and probably an 8 gig Ipod nano is what you'd be wanting

Thanks for your input. Velcro is an interesting idea.

I never heard of Copperopolis before. I looked it up and it looks like you are way out in the boonies.

They make holsters at best buy/ staples/ circuit city/ wherever that not only hold the pod, but also charge it and plug it into your radio.

There are several different ways. One of my friends has a whole intricate thing where he can control the Ipod thru the head unit of the car,

while on the other hand, I have an aux. cable from the back of my stereo unit, under the center console, and into the center console, where my Ipod is hidden

I suggest go online or into your local store and see which youd like. I dont like the big holsters since my knees hit the steering wheel anyway, I dont have much extra room in my stang.. Good luck

Thanks. I would like to be able to control it through the head unit. That way I wouldn't have a cable to bother with. I could just stow the iPod in the console. Somebody told me it has to be done through the iPod though. I get different info from different people. I guess I'll go to the Apple store.

If you want to control it throught you headunit(factory) check this out.....

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1202650467219

You can control it throught the factory headunit and it will display the info on the display too. It also gives you control where you can control it throught the ipod too.

Glad i could help.... The only thing is if you have a new nano or a 2nd gen touch, you will have to call the company up and they will send you a new ipod cable that will work with them... The new nano and the 2nd gen touch, the ipod plug is pinned different for power.... So without the new cable it will work but will not charge the ipod. But yeah if you just call up the company they will send you the cable for free.

This company makes a secure mount that attaches to the bolts holding the stereo in.

That way there is no drilling into the dash or console.

It has it's pros & cons: ( www.panavise.com/pdf_indash/75107-705.pdf )

Also, PIE makes an iPod capable input box & piggyback harness that fits right into the back of the Shaker500. ( www.pie.net )
