Wiring Problem
Hey guys,
I'm sitting ehre trying to wire up my Pioneer AVIC-F700BT, and I'm running itno a few issues. First, I bought the correct metra harness and everything for the Shaker 500, and it has a lead for the switched power. So I connected the wires together and everything, tossed them in, and.. nothing. For some reason, there's no wire running to teh switched power port in the OEM harness. So, i started looking online, and found that it's a grey/yellow wire.. nothing like that at all in the stereo harnessess, and I can't find it in the regular harnesses either. Anyone have any information on this? I also cannot find any information on what rear backup light wire I need to tap into, and I also (when plugging the F700BT switched into the constant for a test), cannot get any menus to pull up. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

A little update.. still trying to find a switched 12V+.
However, I've found that my bypass isn't working for some reason, so I had to attach my parking brake wire to the park brake positive wire, and that opened up the menus.

take a volt meter, turn ur key to run, and start probin wires, when u find one that has power, turn the key off and see if it still does, keep doin that till u find a wire with power in run and not in off
if you have no switched wire then it will not matter if your bypass works or not huh?
Ford went to what is called a data-bus system some time ago which removes the ignition wire from the radio. The easiest place to get a ignition wire is in the steering column or the fuse panel.

Yup. A voltometer will definitely be the next upgrade to my toolbox. I've tried testing it in my passenger fusebox, and have found a few constants, but no switched yets. Anyone know which ones to try?
Thanks
Thanks
Hey gang. I finally got this down. After trying unsuccessfully to tap every grey/yellow wire I could find, I finally went to the fuse box in the passenger kick panel. Stuck the wire into the accessories fuse hole, stuck the fuse in over it, and voila. Like magic. =)
