Question Problems adding amp and sub to shaker 500

To explain it in a bit of detail , I have a 2008 Mustang GT/CS and it has the Shaker 500 which doesn't have quite enough bass for my liking so I decided I was going to add a bit but keep the factory head unit. I bought a pair of Pioneer Champion subs and have an MTX Thunder TA 7804 amp which is bridgeable down to 2 ohms mono which I also have my subs wired to - 2 ohms mono . No problems there !
When I hooked it all up , this mtx amp came with the little RCA adapters on 1 end and speaker wire on the other that I wired into my rear speaker wire and got the polarity right as per someone elses thread here and hooked up the power and ground.
When I turn on the system I have bass from the subs but as I turn the volume on the deck up more and more the subs get quieter and quieter until at about 3/4 volume there's not much bass coming from the trunk than turn it back down under half volume and the bass will shake the car.
ANY IDEAS ??? lol I'm baffled here , I shouldn't need a line converter as that's what the mtx rca adapters are for and I don't need a remote on cuz the mtx amp has that smart engage circuitry but something is wrong to make the bass go away as the volume is cranked! It's like the deck is purposely cutting the bass away from the rear speakers. Thanks for any input.

Hello,

My understanding is that the factory radio automatically reduces bass output as volume increases. The only way to overcome this is to get a sound processor like the JL Audio Cleansweep that can process the factory signal and eliminate the bass reduction with volume increase.

The issue your having sounds very familiar.
I had an 06 GT with the shaker 500 and after some research, determined I could not use RCA's
If memory recalls, you have to splice into (tap) the amplifier by the drivers side kick panel.
Not sure which wires though.
When you do that, you run high level to your amp and you'll be pleased.

Not sure if the shakers and stock amps are the same.

Hope that helps

I think i will try this after , if it doesn't work that shaker 500 unit is going in the garbage and I will get a dvd screen , I am not spending money on a signal processor. Factory deck isn't that special lol

best bet prly is to tap the input side of the shaker 500 amp i would say. its line level so splice female rca plugs in and then plug ur rcas into them

i would use a line out behind the radio so you can at least adjust the level of the line out

We make a LOC that is plug and play and i used on mine with a Kicker Shallow mount sub and 600 watt 2 ch. The PAC AOEM-FRD24 will give a fixed output as opposed to a variable that causes the bass to be reduced.

if he is saying that the radio is cutting bass output to the speakers (which it may be i do not know either way) but my understanding was speakers got full range. then regardless of where he puts the LOC it will have cut bass behind radio or at speakers. The pac products are nice being plug and play

IMO if you are getting poor output and know ur amp is set correctly i would try tapping the subwoofer output either at radio or at the input of the oem amp it cant hurt to try
