there are a number of different types of lock circuit types that require different methods of wiring into them to keep the factory functions, work the alarm and not blow anything up(seen it happen). Ford likes to use what is called a 5-wire reversing polarity system which to be honest is the most difficult system to correctly diagnose, and wire into it. It will require you finding the two wires(pink and yellow and pink with green but there are more then a couple of these), cutting them to diagnose the master/slave switches and their functions, and then use a relay pack to do the switching and these also need to be arranged correctly to keep from blowing the lock circuit.

I would never recomend anyone with out excelent relay knowledge and good alarm knowledge, as well as a pro that has done this before standing behind them to tell them when to stop. I have wired the relays incorrectly and blown the lock circuit and learned how not to do this again but you don't want to be there......

ive installed other alarm just none on a ford
and thats why im trying to get info so i dont fry the locking system
So ive got

Violet, blue/black, brown/black, violet/black, green/black, and white black for the alarm,
what im understanding is...

-unlock circut-

violet goes straight to ul(+)
blue/black going to the door motor
Motor going back to L(+)
brown/black goint to 12v(+)

and pretty much the same for the Lock Circut?

being that the factory lock will be (positive(+))
and the unlock side being (positive(+))

am I close???

dude I have no idea what brand you are installing so I can't tell you if it is right or wrong and again this is the easiest system to mess up.

It sounds as though the alarm you have has the relays built into it which means those wires should also have corrosponding relay terminal numbers on them(85, 86, 30, 87 and 87a). Look at this diagram that explains the outputs of the relays. Now if you look very very closely at the 87a and 30 terminals on the relays it is important to note that one side goes towards the switch, one side goes towards the motor and if they are backwards your buttons will work but your alarm will blow the circuit.

As I said before finding the wires is not the most dificult trick, the hardest part is diagnosing the correct switches(master/slave). Having done only one alarm I still don't know that you are ready for 5-wire systems unless you are willing to pay to replace the doorlock circuit. It doesnt just pop a fuse when it goes, ask me how I know..........

hondas and acuras use a much much easier pos or neg trigger that you just splice in once you find the wires. It couldn't be easier for them and the hardest part is finding the wires. On ours that is the easiest step.

If you have a friend that understands 5-wire systems then wait for a day he can stand behind you and confirm what you are doing.........

why would it take a whole day just for someone to install a remote start security system? is it because of locating the wires or testing them or what?

a good alarm install will take a few hours at a minimum just because of the amount of work that is involved. Alarms are made to wire into any car so before you even start intalling it you need to prep the unit and cut the wires off that are not needed to keep them from getting in the way. (15-20 mins)

Next is getting to the wiring needed to be tapped. The ignition wiring is needed and normally behind a few pieces of metal and plastic to keep them safe. Other locations that you will probably need to run wire to will be the kick panels for the doorlocks, the light switch for the parking lights and you will probably need to run a tach wire, a hood-ltach wire and the siren wires to under the hood. AGain all of these will require not only some planning but time to remove panels, make sure the wires are safely ran(and hidden if done well).

One you thing you find a wire you need you need to first ensure it is the right wire by testing it. This may take 10 secs, may take a min or two depending on how hard it is to get to. Alot of time the wires in places that are hard to reach or wrapped so tightly that you can't get any slack in them to strip them and make connections. It is not uncommon to have to take 30 mins to locate a wire and make single connection, sometimes more.

Now that the wiring is done you will need to make sure that the main unit is hidden as well as functioning properly. Put all the panels back on it as well as tune the shock sensor. If all goes well it can take a few hours but if you have acouple of difficult wires it will take longer and it is not uncommon. Most shops will request the car all day in case there are problems and also so that they can work it in between other cars.
