Default Need a Shaker 500 Guru - Please!

I have a 2006 GT convertible with a Shaker 500 system. I just swaped the head unit out with a Shaker 500 head unit from a 2008 Mustang. It works perfect, with one small glitch. The main reason I made this switch was to get a feature I knew the '08s had, that is a speaker setting called "Convertible". The '08 radio , as I said, works fine, but the only options I have are rear seats, all seats & drivers seat. I saw the feature on 2 rental cars I had in Hawaii, and it is mentioned in the '08 manual. I cannot believe Ford would have one radio for 'verts and one for coups. I am wondering if this is a programming thing, something that can be "turned on". Can anybody cast any light on this question? Maybe the name of a company that services Ford radios?

"Maybe the name of a company that services Ford radios?" I am sorry to tell you that this post in general made me giggle, but this last line literally made me laugh out loud. Please understand that I am not trying to be mean, but the only programming that the shakers indash changer has is a program to lock up with an ERR when it detects it has your 6 most favorite disks... Ford/jbl has never really been able to master the loading/unloading mechanism in their changers and they always end up locked up sooner then later.

I do not know of any company that specifically services these units as they could make a killing but would be busy as all heck. Also because of the short lived life of these radios I do not think we have ever had anyone really get to know anything about them other then replacing them on here. I consider myself a mach460 jedi and know it inside and out but you can still find working systems in 94 mustangs today. I know there will not be a working factory shaker unit after 15 yrs of age, promise........

Not sure what the seat options would make in the radio, but you can try pulling the back seat out and see if it helps?

Well, The 6 CD changer in the Shaker 500 head unit I just took out has almost 4 years and 60K miles and still works fine. Maybe I'm just lucky.
Thanks anyway.
