Default swap mach for shaker head unit

my mach 460 head unit took a dump. i have a 2004 so i have the newersyle plug behind the radio which is the same plug as the shaker head unit. the also use the same harness to hookup an aftermarket radio. i know the mounting point are different but thats no big deal. anyone know for sure if their a direct swap? keep in mind i was compaing the 04 mach and the o5 shaker. the pinouts are identical.

what are you hoping to gain? The indash changers are made under a secret agreement with the music industry to lock up when it finds your 6 favorite disks are in it. Some people like the stock look which I understand but I like my cd's.

You will not only get better quality, but better sound as well with an aftermarket unit, and probably for less..........

i actualy like the way the stock sytem sounds with a couple sets of tweets and a pair of subs complimenting it. i put an aftermarket unit in already with the harness that sends signal to the stock amps via rca jacks. it sounds like *** compared to the stock unit and i was hoping to avoid rewiring my whole car and getting new amps

ah simple fix. the problem is that the factory amp use a very hot/high input voltage close to 8v rather then the max 4-5v that the normal radio puts out on its rcas. You need to look into a little box called a line driver which is basically just a low level amplifier that will do what I said above. I happen to find the one I had in my stang in the bottom of my toolbox and could ship it out if you want it.

The other problem is that your tweeters are now playing a full range signal and a 2.5" speaker does not like ANY bass. Go to your local hack shack and get 4 1000 microfarad caps and put them on the + end of the speaker wire going to the speaker. This will take the bass out of them and allow them to play the highs the way they like. All told with this you will be looking at $30-50 depening on what line driver you get and how bad you are raped for your caps.

page 2 of my cardomain page shows a little about how to do it, let me know what questions you have and I can get you through it.
