Default Antenna

I want to get rid of the radio antenna on my stang and replace it with a windshield mounted unit. I listen to a lot of AM radio what would be a good unit to get?

if you listen to alot of am then I would recomend the factory antenna. AM stations are hard to get to work correctly with out a nearly perfect antenna. I would not switch antenna with out expecting to loose some reception and that little bit of loss on am can mean everything.......

I can't picture a decent powered antenna would be worse than the factory antenna, I mean AM reception is already pretty crappy in these cars.

antennas are funny things. While signals do pass through glass/metal and almost everything part of the signal is lost. As you mentioned am signals are generally pretty weak alread so even a little bit of loss could be big deal. The amplified antennas I have worked with(more then a few) in the automotive arena have never impressed me. You can't amplify what is lost..........
