Default Need stereo wiring help--PLEASE!!!

Hi guys, I have wired a few stereos in my day, now helping the kid with his 93 LX. Someone before we purchased the car jacked and hacked the wiring, plugs cut off and all. The car did not come with a stereo when we purchased it. We are installing an Alpine unit HOWEVER....I looked all over to find a wiring diagram but none of them match the wire colors we have in this car. It appears to have a factory amp??? there is a blue wire and plug taped to the factory wires that I assume is the amp. I have found the constant hot, switchable hot. I am worried about the ground...I have a small black wire and a heavier black wire, not sure which to use. I am totally confused with the speaker wires too, again none of the wire colors match any of the diagram, which wires are + and which ones are - for the speakers. We are also running a 6 speaker set up. Thanks for any and all help

can you get a pic of what you have? I have never found any wiring diagrams that were accurate for the audio systems in any of the fox mustangs as it seems they ran what ever wire color they had.

start at the amp and follow the hrns's that come out of it and one will go up into the dash by the glove box and connect to another 8 pin hrns that looks exactly like the bypass hrns that I point to on page 2 of my cardomain page. If they have not disconnected that yet then it should be easy to disconnect that hrns and then pull it down into the dash and use that as your speaker hrns.

If it is too cut up already the way you test wires for speaker connections is to first make sure there none show power or ground with the key on, off or with the lights on. Once you locate the wires you suspect you take a AA battery and touch one wire to one side, another wire to the other side. If the two wires are connected to a speaker, that speaker will make a popping noise. If it doesn't make a noise then replace one wire and test again, repeat this until you find the 2 correct wires.
