Default custom sub box

hey guys, i'm trying to make my own box for my 10inch subs, the one i have now takes up the whole trunk. I was wondering if anyone had any adivce concerning materials and general construction of a box. In perfection i want to stick the 2 subs, one on each side of the trunk towards the back, right up against the rear seats, and have something to mount my aplifier in the middle between the 2. Any ideas, or suggestions about how to get this done, will be really appreciated.

Im finishing one up now, but use 3/4" MDF. DO NOT USE PARTICAL BOARD as it flexes to much to work as a subwoofer box. Use lots of wood glue for strength and to seal it, if possible use brad nails to secure it while it dries.

My local car audio shop told me that if u put both subs in the same box it increase the overall DB level but its only like 5 Db so its not noticble with the human ear.

As far as doin it with an amp in the middle that could get complicated but i would just make the two separate boxes. then build something to hold the amp in the middle but still allow it to fit between the seats although thats a thight fit.

Good luck

for the most part you are correct. use MDF over particle board. but particle board is acceptable in lots of low power situations. but technically, having subs in the same box doesn't necessarily give a decibal advantage. and 5 db's is extremely noticable to the ear. if you want two seperate chambers for your subs that is perfectly acceptable--as a matter of fact it would allow one sub to keep playing fine in the event that the other would blow, if they shared the same chamber and 1 would blow , you would be doubling the amount of air space that the remaining sub has and too much air space is almost always a tragic end to a subs life.

5dB is like twice as loud, and noticable.
