Should i get a ported box
I have a Rockford Fosgate 1000bd powering 2 10" Rockford Fosgate T1's. There in a sealed box right now and hittin about 124 db. Would it be worth it to get a ported box cause i heard with theses subs there really needed. Also does anyone think i could blow theses to subs with the amp that is powering them.
It sounds like the amps and enclosure compliment the speakers well. If you had to turn the bass up 2/3 or full then you'd have a weak link somewhere or the gain adjusted improperly.
Sealed enclosures give you tighter bass because of the dampining effect the sealed box gives. A ported box might get a bit louder but it will be boomy...all depends on the music you listen to...Rock/Punk.... Sealed sounds better, rap, hip-hop...ported might sound better.
As for what is 'really needed' by the subs. A sub can work in any enclosure. It just makes a difference on the Qspecs (Thiele Small parameters) with respect to the size of the enclosure for a given type. Sealed usually require a larger volume (cubic feet) of space and more power to produce the same dB as a smaller ported box because of the dampening effect the sealed enclosure has.
Who say's Ported is really needed for your subs???
