@Shane- I'm running my system off the stock head unit (Just the reg. stock...non-shaker) with a signal processor. Sounds great and louder than I'd actually ever play it lol.
cool, thats what i wanted to hear. The 10's have that weird radio and the install kits look bad imho so i want to keep the factory radio

With processors like the JBL MS-8, the JL Audio Cleansweep, the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2, and the Audison Bit One, it is not necessary to remove the factory head unit these days. They remove any EQuing that the factory deck performs and attempt to give you the cleanest possible signal. The MS-8 goes one step further and automatically tunes your system for you, yet still gives you the ability to apply EQ curves AFTER it tunes your setup!

Hay shane you might want to look at the MTX i have one in my car and love it,and it has a built in amp, hooks up easy with the stock deck and comes with a adjustable volume control for the sub,and it sounds great.

Yeah I planned on getting a nav but the looks of the kits have turned me off to that idea... Plus I like having nothing worth stealing showing lol. It's like a sleeper for audio.

only problem here is that the stock indash changer has always had a weak transport mechanism that breaks either just after the warrenty ends, or when it detects it has your 6 most favorite disks...

I think that is hit or miss. My 05 had 80k on he ODO and the shaker 1000 worked flawlessly. then i am not always chnging eh CDs or listneing to the palyer, probalby makes a diff too. As to the JL stuff, I can get it very cheap so thanks for the tips on lest costly stuff, but this JL stuff will be the way I go. Any of you guys give me an idea what a complete install for all teh spekaers int eh car and the sub woudl run? I'm thinking $350ish maybe. I know i coudl do it myself, but i dont usually have the time to tinker with my own stuff.

I can't say I blame you for wanting to retain the stock head unit. The newer Ford/Mazda vehicles look like they would require a pricey dash kit to do away with the stock Audio Control Modules (as they call them).

If you search the net, you could pick up a Metra 99-5823CH for like $219-$230 bucks. The kit doesn't look bad at all.

yeah i saw that kit, i dont realyl like the looks of it. i like the scosche one, but honestly I'd rather keep it looking stock inside at least for now. I woudln't mind a touchscreen nav system, but I LOVE sync and that will kill sync control. That's mostly why i want to keep the stock radio.
