Default looking for a new sound system, need help from audio experts!

NEED HELP.. have a stock audio system in my 99gt and it sounds like ****! compared to my 200$ headphones i listen to everyday.. and they SOUND LIKE **** compared to decent speakers with base.

now i was in my friends 02 v6 and he had the mach 460 sound system, but no subs hooked up. he cranked it up with the cd player and it sound soo good. Everything was so crisp and smooth. even without the base, it sounded great. I want mine to be able to crank up that loud (it was so loud that you couldnt here the other person talk).. that might not be loud, but thats loud enough for me! thats all i want.

so im asking you to advise me on what i need, help me get something set up like the mach 460 loudness and quality price range, with a small sub too just for that extra boom. thanks man, anyone can help me too.. i tried looking for the mach 460 system on criagslist and i offered to buy it out of his car but he said he liked it to much. so help me, tell me how much do you think it would cost to do what i want. PM me or reply on here.

oh and if this helps, my budjet is around 300 bucks.. if i have to go with used stuff i will. but i wanna see what i can get with 300 bucks. my friend will help me install it so no install price.

I would get a nice after market head unit. Would sound loads better then a stock radio anyday. Not to familiar with the 460 unit but i seriously doubt it is asgood as most aftermarkets.

id start off with replacing the stock speakers with something aftermarket. u can snag a decent set of 6x8s for about 70 bucks a pair(you will need 2 pair). The next step i would do is replace that stock head unit. Depending what you want out of it will determine price. Check out woofersetc.com they have tons of good deals and are pretty reliable.

Don't buy a mach. Aftermarket is better for the same price range. As far as what you should get, whats your budget? What kind(s) of music do you listen to? Without starting there, there's really no way to help ya out.

The budget is $300? How much did you pay for the car?

For 300.00....

Head Unit-150-200

components or coaxials- 100-150

Unless you really bargain shop I don't see how you would get a sub/amp as well.

I'd check Craigslist. Lots of good deals on there sometimes.

Ebay has the mach head units for cheap with the amps, so check those out. I'd still go aftermarket. Here's a head unit. Sonic electronix has gotta a lot of other good stuff for pretty cheap too, good place. If you can't find something there for sub and amp and box, i would def say craigs list is the way to go. I got a pair of xd alpine tens in a box for a 100 and an alpine 450 amp for 35. You'll have to get all the cables needed for hook up too. You could grab a set at walmart for like 30 bucks. Your really gonna have to look around for deals if you want to keep it under 300 but it is def doable.

i know 300s cheap. i might be able to do it for 400 or so. Im not planning on going with ALL brand new gear. I know for a fact i can get it done with 300 bucks, my buddy did it.

i just wanna know what are some good used speakers amps and headunits, and subs to look out for.. also what brand to stay away from.

If your buddy did it and it sounds good, just get what he got.
