Default iPod Connection Question from New Owner

I just purchased a 2009 GT/CS Conv Premium with Shaker 500 Audio System.
I noticed in the center console that it had the normal Auxiliary Power Point and Auxiliary Input Jack, both of which were described in the Owner's Manual.
I also noticed an iPOD cable which not only doesn't work properly with my iPhone 3GS but also takes up my SAT1 channel.

I prefer using the SAT1 channel for programming additional Sirius stations rather than ever use the iPOD cable. Is there any easy way to disconnect the iPOD cable that will allow me to free up the SAT1 Channel? or is there a way to switch from the iPOD cable to the SAT1 channel without removing it.
The system recognizes the iPOD cable on the radio but it clearly does not work with my iPhone.
Hopefully, I got my message across and thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
David

Is it usual for the ipod adapter to take over the SAT1 channel?

If its one of our interfaces, it doesnt take up ANY channles. It add different modes to the existing SAT input of the radio. But first find out what brand the part is.
