XM radio questions
My cd player on my mach 460 system broke.. Ive been wondering about XM radios.. do any specific XM head units fit where the stock head unit fit? Anything compatible? I dont know too much about XM but id like to get all the channels and well, my cd player does not work so mabe a XM radio/cd player combo would be good. Any recommendations or information would be appreciated.

I'd have to say one of the coolest in deck systems is: Kenwood DDX7017 DVD/CD player/ navigation (GPS) which has a 6.5" video screen. In addition to it's equiped with either a Sirius or XM reciever that is controlled by the 7017. Also, you can get an iPod adaptor for it that charges and controlls the iPod from the radio. It also will accept the bluetooth adaptor to hook your phone up with. My future phone will have bluetooth capibilities. It has a option for an aux input for what ever else you want to connect.

So.... there's a wide range. I just listed the two ends.
on a side note, how do I hook the "SAT" button up to get satellite radio? I mean obviously I gotta buy the service and what not, but is it a module that I buy and connect to the radio, or what? Where would I be able to find it? And is it for sirus or xm or both?
usually on all XM radios there is a separate antenna just for the XM satellites, I have hooked a few up with just the aftermarket XM unit and stock stereo but haven't had my hands on wiring a head unit. I don't figure it would/should be that different of an animal
on a side note that unit is discontinued through crutchfield if you look up to the right

if you just wanted to go aftermarket stand alone xm unit and have your stock head unit receive what it is broadcasting 300 is more than enough just shop around you would be able to get pretty much a very good xm unit with a lot of toys for less than 300
I think I would prefer to plug it into the headunit somehow through a jack to get the clearest possible sound. I do have an ipod touch and it transmits its signal to my antenna and i play it on my radio but the sound isnt as clear as I would like.
eh... i think adding a reciever would just add clutter. (Im not a fan of clutter) Me? I'd just buy an all in one deck. But both options will work. Just depends how you prefer you center console to look & how much green your willing to spend. You can't go wrong either way imo.

This is the one they have in best buy and are trying to sell me. What do you guys think? (to view you need to right click link and copy link location then past in browser website bar.)
They also want 200$ for installation of the deck and XM antenna thing.
Total would be about 505 they said for that deck, the XM thing and installation.
