Default CD deck doesn't remember programmed stations

I have a sony xplod CD deck in my 89 LX and every time I turn on the car, it spits the CD out and also doesn't remember any of the programmed stations that I put in. When I bought the car it was doing this. Any suggestions on what it could be would be great. Thanks in advance

sounds like the 12v constant has a short or isn't hooked up at all.

(sorry for bringing up an old thread but I had to search to find this) so how exactly do you wire the memory cable because if I don't have my memory cable hooked up the way it says, it doesn't remember anything and shuts off correctly when I shut off the car but when I do hook it up, the stereo does remember stuff but doesn't shut off with the key... Whats the deal?

An easy trick to wire the 12v power source is run a wire from the head unit's specified connecter for the 12v, under your dash, to your fuse box. Plug the wire into your Horn fuse.

Since the horn will work with the car on or off, it is a constant power source.

Nevermind. I seemed to have figured it out.
