Default New system in 2000 Mustang

I recently bought a used 2000 mustang and its the first mustang I have owned, so I have very little knowledge of them. I want to install a new sound system in it but I don't really know anything about them so I have found myself at a loss and any help will be greatly appreciated. I don't need the biggest baddest system, just something with good base and sound. I don't want the cheapest system but I don't want to go broke either. I have read the FAQ but still have a few questions. Would I be better off buying the system piece by piece or should I get a pre-assembled set like this one:

Go with Alpine headunit no matter what, Alpine speakers if you dont got a lot to spend or if you got a little extra go with JL or Boston

I would definitely piece it together. The options are nearly limitless depending on budget. How much do you want to spend? I wouldn't limit yourself to just Alpine head units. There are tons of decent options.

Never buy any speakers that you haven't actually listened to.

...And...

Never take advice about a piece of equipment from anyone who doesn't actually
own the item
that they're recommending.

I have a very similar setup in my 98 with maybe even that exact amp and just one of those subs. Not sure yet if I am going to move the same sub and amp over to my Cobra but I would recommend that equipment.

I've never heard JL, heard some boston speakers once or twice and know they are more expensive and than alpine but for a car audio beginner, alpine makes some impressive equipment. My first system consisted of alpine components, 6x9s, and two 12" subs (everything was type-r) and I was extremely satisfied. The subs hit hard and the components could be cranked up loud and still sounded crystal clear. So if you are trying to save some cash, yet still have a nice sounding system, definitely consider alpine.

For speakers, Alpine Type R's are by far the best speakers I have ever had. I have not had any Boston Acoustics speakers though but have heard good things.
