Default Replacing 6x8's w/6.5" Co-Axials: Input?

I have 2 pairs of 6.5" Memphis Co-Axial speakers that I am going to install along with a Memphis 4 channel amplifier from a previous car that I had. MEMPHIS makes some good stuff and I hate to have this quality equipment in my closet which is why I am tacklling this project. Now before I do this, here is my question:

Has anyone had problems with SCOSCHE adapter plates? Has anyone specifically used model SA68 plates? I just want to know that this is going to work before I tear the doors off my baby. I realize that I might sacrifice some sound quality. I just want to know that these things will fit. If anyone has any suggestions or comments I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Sadly, the adapter plates may NOT work with the Memphis speakers as all 6.5" driver mounting cutouts are NOT equal. You need to check the mounting diameter of your speaker and compare that to the cutout on the 6x8 to 6.5 adapter plate. If your speakers will fit, the Scosche plates will work. If not, you'll have to build your own or get someone else to build them for you.

Thanks Old School. I needed someone to confirm the possibility of this not working. I wonder if a Dremel with lots of attachments would help make it fit. I am so tired of paying people for installation. Going to the doctor is cheaper. Something is wrong there. It's frustrating to have the desire to DIY, but lack the confidence in doing it right. Thanks a lot Old School. I appreciate it.

I always used Masonite for 1/4" applications. Also, if you are going to go with all the trouble of doing that adapters, go ahead and do a Dynamat speaker kit.
