Default Adding Bluetooth

I have a new base model 2012 Mustang (No Sync of course) and I would like to have Bluetooth. So I was wondering what products other people had tried. I am pretty sure a new stereo would be too pricey right now but I am open to suggestions, thought I am thinking about something simpler.

I know there are a lot of Bluetooth gizmos, so where to start?

Is there one that would plug in to the AUX input so you can hear the conversation through the stereo speakers and play audio from your phone (I currently have a Droid)?

Has anyone tried the Belkin Bluetooth car kit? It uses Bluetooth to communicate with your phone but uses the aux jack to feed audio to the stereo, I am thinking this is a nice alternative to an FM transmitter. They have another version that does not use bluetooth to communicate with your phone and uses the head phone jack and a cable.
Anyways it seems to get desent reviews and at around $65 it is cheaper then a new stereo and cheaper then a ticket from the police.

I stumbled across the BELKIN F4U037TT Vehicle Hands Free Calling System at frys for $50 off ,, normally $79.99. With tax and shipping it was under $35.. so I ordered it.
It is a smoking deal if anyone else is looking to add bluetooth to their stereo.

I have seen the F4U037 for around $65, but I think that is the older model, I did not see it listed on Belkins site any more, I think the "tt" is the newer version.

I got my BELKIN F4U037TT and I have been using if for about a week now.

I have to say it does not get any easier to install and use. I listen to mp3s on my phone with it a lot now and I love that most of all.

This unit consists of one small button like device which is just a tad larger then the buttons on the dash. it has one wire coming out of it which splits off into the line plug and 12volt plug (which has a built in USB socket) This button device is both a microphone and an actual button you push with your finger.

The button mounts to the interior of your vehicle with and adhesive disk which cuples to the button via a magnet. I am still experimenting with the best place to mount the mic, this has been the only thing close to a challenge. I also get a bit of distortion when I am on a phone call, it may just be the volumn setting on my phone.

so far I have paired this device with a Motoral Droid and an LG Esteem and they have worked perfectly . Well worth the $30, I choose the $2 shipping and I had the item in 2 days! I love a bargain.

I have the stock shaker 500 in my 06. Doesn't have a line in on the unit or center console.
Any good looking units that wire in the back and give bluetooth?
Also deffinate plus if unit allows stereo to control the music selection/ answer phone directly from hu or a extra button

Lem-06, I am sure there are products out there for your situation but I don't know much about them. I know best buy had several types of Bluetooth systems in the store I did not see online. It seem like the Parot gear is very prevalent, but much more involved then the simple kit I got.

Lethal, I dont have any pics yet, I could snaps some pics but I don't think I have that level of privlege on this site yet.

I will say the set up I have is probably as simple and inexpensive as it gets. I have probably lost at least $300 worth of bluetooth ear pieces so far and I have a bad habbit of over thinking, over modifying projects as it is. So I actually am getting a lot of satisfaction of the simplicty of this set up. I just need to find a better location for the mic/button. I would also like to mount a holder for my phone and run a usb cable to charge the phone. (see the snow ball starting to roll?)

Anyways I have not played with all the functions for controling the music and selecting folders and what not. I usually just hit play on the screen for my phone and let it play. But there is some of that functionality built in to the device and it just depends on which phone of mp3 player you have as to how much of that functionality works.

I did notice there is some confussion when it comes to the product name. I think the orgianl name for the product was the "Belkin Aircast" and there is more then one version, the one I have uses bluetooth to talk to the phone/mp3 player and AUX to talk to the stereo. Others vesion might use the headphone jack to talk to the phone/MP3 player and Aux line to the stereo and so on. The name on the package is actually "CarAudio Connect AUX" and no where on the package does it say "Aircast", although the directions do refer to the name "aircast". This confused me a bit when i was trying to research the products online. I guess it is just one of the inconsistancies you have to work around.

I decided skip bt because I wasn't a fan of the stock unit and couldn't find an aftermarket I liked in my price range.
Wound up getting a pioneer 4300
Can't wait to install
