Is there any where to get replacement speakers ?

 

is there anyway to make this question a sticky?(not for you this is just our most asked question I think).

If you have replaced your deck as most people already have it is not a big deal to replace them with a standard 4 ohm 5 x 7 speaker or to make a baffle to mount a 6.5 too. If you have not replaced the deck, well then I do not have an option for you short of buying the stock speakers that someone has pulled out.

 

I need to replace a speaker in my car and have a new head unit ready to install.

What is so special about the stock speakers? I assume I need to replace all of the speakers with after market if I don't want to find a factory speaker?

For discussion I have a Clarion CX-501 head unit ready for install and a blown driver side door speaker.

Crutchfield tells me they don't not have speakers to work in my car. Local audio places say its not a big deal, any speakers will do.

 

I did a little research and this is what I found out.
The amp the front speakers are hooked to is designed for a 4ohm load. Because of this, Ford installed 8ohm speakers connected in parallel.

Almost all automotive speakers are 4ohm and if you hook that up to the Mach460 amp it will over heat.

If you're going to run aftermarket speakers its best of rewire the car and hook up a new Amp.

Your right on the speaker impedence(ohms) being different but no its not that hard, you do not need to add another amp to drive small speakers. I show how to bypass the system or integrate into it on my cardomain page #2 ride# 2395420. Does that deck have a sub-output?
