Hey all, anyone know where the factory amps in the 2012 are located? I have the v-6 base model, not shaker system. Is it possible to by pass them and ad LOCs to run an after market four channel amp? The sound is kinda muddy and i think the higher quality amp may help.
Any thoughts or input is appreciated. I would put an after market head unit in but I'm not big on the metra or sosche dash replacement kits.

I don't think you have any amps, I think all of your speakers run of the factory head unit.
The Shaker 500 has one amp located about the kick panel on the drivers side. Here is
a picture of the factory Shaker 500 amp.


I was able to replace the factory amp with a 50W x 4 ch Sony amp that takes speaker inputs.

I also replaced the 6x8 door speakers with Pioneer.

Does your door have the 8" sub speakers?

 

Base model V6's shouldn't have any Shaker option unless installed at the dealership or specifically ordered that way from the factory. I want to say though, that regardless of what he has, base or Shaker, he should have an amp someplace.
