Default help installing rear speakers in 95 GT coupe

I am trying to replace the stock speakers in my 95 but i cant figure out how to get the rear deck with the carpet off to get to the speakers underneath. I took the 3 screws off the "headrest" piece and got that off but the carpeted cover I cant seem to figure out how to remove. I pried the front up but its still not coming off.

Thanks for any help. pics would be great if possible.

umm I believe you get the speakers out thru the trunk. You shouldnt have to take the carpet off.

with the mach system they are indeed mounted from the bottom and dropping the enclosure will give you the mounting spots. If you didn't have the mach system the speakers were some of the first pieces of the interior installed before anything else through the back window opening. I have heard some people say they can work the cover out with just the C-pilars removed but I do not know how. I always pulled the panels that went along the side of the car so you end up pulling everything from the where the door stops - to the back of the car. When you install the speakers install them from the bottom and you will only have to do that once....

The speakers definitely do not come out from the bottom, at least not on my GT. There is a clip holding down the capreted deck from inside the trunk. I was able to slide out the deck from underneath in the trunk first to clear the clip from the T-bar frame and then went back into the backseat and was able to "bend up" the deck from the center until it slide out from the sides and out. It was a pain in the *** and I cracked the paint on the cardboard a little but I got it out and was able to swap the speakers. Hope this helps someone in the future. Thx.

Fold the seats down and take the screws out of the rear panel and take it out. If you dont have the Mach system then they come out from the top
