CD Changer Mechanism
Can anyone tell me what sources there are to buy CD changer mechanisms?
I have a head unit with a 6 disk changer that needs repair. I have researched this and found a few shops that will fix the unit. Those shops remove the CD mechanism and replace it with a new one, that's all. They get the mechanism from someone else.
I am a DIY kind of guy and want to replace the mechanism myself, I can remove the mechanism but I don't know where to buy the replacement. There are no separate part numbers or markings on the CD mechanism.
It's a stock 04 Ford Mustang GT Mach 460 system, head unit part number is 3R3T-18C815-TE. Yes I know I should put in an aftermarket but I like the stock version, I have 2.
Thanks

Yes, after a good deal of work I found a CD changer mechanism on ebay. They cost around 100 to 135. If the only problem is the CD changer then its a good way to go, if there is more damage then there are repair services on ebay as well. Changing it out is easy. DON'T buy a used head unit as the CD changer never works, I have 4 head units now.
Don't know why but I missed the part number printed on the CD changer. Mine is 2L1F-18C821-B, just search for the number on ebay. That number may be different for the many types of head units out there. Best way to find out is open the head unit and check.
