Hey everyone im new to the forum and new to cars in fact. i have a kenwood ddx419 that i plan to install in my 2014 mustang. now do i absolutely NEED a dash kit like a metra or scosche etc, or can i just install the head unit right in after taking the factory dash out?
yes, you need some sort of kit/bezel. you're gonna have to replace a bunch of stuff. all of the buttons on the factory center stack (radio and climate control) are on one module (the FCIM), the factory display (FDIM) is another module, and the radio actually sits behind the bezel and is just a blank silver box. Yeah... The prices suck for any of the adapters for our cars.
Scoche is good, metra is good, and I haven't seen any users of other systems, but I know of 2 of them at varying prices.
