Comparable to the Type-R's would be the MTX 7500 12", it's about $25-50 more but it would smoke the Type-R anyday of the week. Thats if you price them retail I think you can pick them both up through wholesalers or ebay for almost the same amount around $120. Theres a couple on there listed right after each other for $50 a piece. Audiobahn is a joke. They are basically more flashy, more expensive, same quality as Rockford. Anyone who ask's about or tells me they have Audiobahn, I simply laugh.

Yeah MTX makes some pretty impressive subs now! The alpine type R's are overrated I think. The RF P3's hit harder than them I would go with the MTX or check out JL audio....

JL is decent stuff, but it is at the bottom of the list for best bang for the buck, way, way overpriced. The Type-R's aren't bad by anymeans, but I would definantly say the 7500 is a better value. The P3 are pretty close to performance as the Type-R, however that hardend plastic cone material I have found is pretty brittle. Not the best material for woofers.

I would actually recommend 2 10W3's from JL. If you haven't heard these, don't laugh. They are freakin' incredible in a good box. I don't know where these guys get off saying they are not bang for the buck subs, when every brand out there still says things like "These are comparable to JL...." If they have to compare to JL, then the entire industry knows who is the best. Of course others are cheaper, or handle more power, but it all depends on what you are running. I think they would be fine with the "For the Money" statement. You may even want to spend a little more, and get one 10W7, and call it a day. I personally have 2 10W6V2 in my car,and it pounds, and has awesome sound quality to keep up with my Focal fronts.

the JL w3v2s are pretty decent subs to the MTX are alright subs its just that the Type Rs are great SQL subs they might not get the loudest but they sound really good too. i havent had enough experience with teh MTX line up to reccomend them to any one. and to the guy who reccomended the H2's i would like to see you design and make a bandpass box that would work with those. its not as easy as you think. and also i might be a newbie here but i am a very well respected member of many other forums and my knowledge of car audio is well above yours.
