Convert box ideas
Im in a dead hole. I have no idea how to build a custom box for my 87 convert. I have built boxes and installed systems before, But i have no idea where to start. I wanna keep the spare in the trunk, so can i build 2 10's on the side or can i build it facing out. I have no idea where to start. does any one have ideas on size build for 2 10's or 1 12'? thanks
I was always considering taking out my back seat in my old vert and installing a couple 12's there. Not like theres much leg room to begin with. Or maybe you can some how utilize the space you have near the front of the trunk and come out to the sides and put 2 10's in the corners and just modify the trunk floor so you can still get your spare out. Of course I could have just taked the spare out since mine was always flat anyhow.
haha yea mines always flat too, but i was jus browsing on ebay and i was thinking about a 3rd gen camaro/ trans am sub enclousre. seems small enough to fit in the sides if not in front of the spare? just a thought
Well you cant just go and build a box outta the blue, because not all 12" or 10" boxes will work with all 12" and 10" subs. Your first step is to see the recommended cu.ft your subs require. It will look something like 0.8 cu.ft or 1.0 cu.ft. Plus a sub will usually require a different amount of cubic feet if it is ported or sealed as well. If your box is too big or too small your subs will sound like ****! I don't know how many times ive seen subs being labled as "crappy" because they are stuck in the wrong box.
if you want a custom box. get rid of your spare and fiberglass your self a box in the wheel well thingy. i thing JL audio makes a special panel on the right side of the car. you can also look at bass tubes. i have a bass tube in my 88 vert and i must say it doesnt hit hard but it sure sounds better than no sub.
