Default getting door panel off

hello all
I've got a 97 GT, and I want to know any tips you have for pullin the panel off to gain access to the speaker! I need to inspect it to see if it's loose or blown on the drivers front... I was pryin on it and kept feelin like it was gonna break.

thanks all

where the panel is where your window switches are, just take something to pry that panel off of the door panel, and unplug the connectorsfrom the window switches . then take the screw out behind it. then pop out the molding that is around the door handle. then pull out any plastic dowel pins you see on the outside of the door panel on the sides. then lift the door panel straight up from the door and it should come off.

Its been a little while since i have done it but thats the best I can do with out the door being in front of me. Hoped I helped

Done this a million times on my 97.

First off you need to remove the plastic rivet on the frot lower part of the door. (closest to the pedals)

After that you need to remove the handle assembly, It wil pull out. The top has a plastic thing that clips under the doorpanel, if u find it push it back with a flat head screwdriver. The bottom you MUST becareful, it hase a plastc/metal clip, you pull STRAIGHT up on it.

Once its removed, from the panel, remove the screws that hold the switches in. And im pretty sure theres a plug in there to. Remove that.

Now the trim ring on the door handle, it also must be carefully removed with a screwdriver, it also has a plastic "lip" thing. Put a flat head screwdriver behind it, and push down and out.

There are two screws that go into the door, were the switches used to be removove those, there about 2 inches long.

At this point you should be able give the bottom of the door panel a good tap with your hand, and it will come straight up. Theres a plug for the window regulator on the opposite end, remove that, dont forget to plug it back in or your window wont go down.

If you have the mach 460 system you have to remove the grill on the speaker pod. Flathead screwdriver should get it off, be reallly careful.

Hope that helps.

most certainly! Just now have to find the time to pull this apart!

The problem I have is that speaker buzzes under mid bass sounds. Other than that, it hits fine too, just on sustained mid bass it buzzes. Sometimes it rattles. Could the speaker be blown, or could it have wiggled loose? Or maybe one of the wires on it is loose?

I may just take off the door panel to un plug this speaker because it's an embarrassing and very annoying sound

thanks so much!
