Default Question about radio swap...

I am the new owner of an 06 V6 Convertible. It came with the standard CD Radio and I am considering purchasing a Shaker 500 6 disc from a friend. Anyone know if this will just plug right in? I think it will but I wanna be sure before I buy the new radio. Thanks.

It should work as just a four speaker system but you don't have the subs so it probably won't sound much differant. You can see the sub in the door in this picture behind the steering wheel.

I'm not as worried about sound quality as I am the six disc changer and mp3 capabilites.... I'm going to add amp/subs later.

My guess is it will plug right in. I have the full wiring diagram, and they only list one set of radio connectors and don't specify a head unit. It would make sense for easier manufacturing if they standardized all the plugs for the different options. The only way to know for sure is pull it out and look.

I would advise against purchasing a Shaker 500... if you're going to put in amp/subs, get a decent aftermarket stereo. I'm going to swap my 500 for something that works consistently, as soon as I have the time to figure it all out. Good luck regardless!

I agree with that. I'm replacing my shaker head unit. I haven't had the skipping problem others have talked about but I regularly get "bad disc" and it ejects it. I pop it back in and it works fine. These were brand new CDRWs that went from the spindle, cut on the computer, and straight into the shaker. I noticed when it popped them out that they were scuffed so I think the changer mechanism isn't very gentle on your disks. I wouldn't put my originals in there.

Still, it works for the most part and you may be able to pick one up cheap from someone that's pulled theirs.
