well im not sure on your gen stangs, but i know to lower the foxes with 2 inches, you should be good. now you do need to get it aligned afterwards, and maybe need some camber plates, but there are people with fox bodys that cut the springs and then just drive it.. period lol. so it all depends on how much you drop, and the type of kit you get. but yes an alinement is needed.

oh and handleing wise.. again depending on what you kit you get, it should improving handling enough to notice.
