66 fastback front suspension upgrade
My son and I are starting a complete rebuild of a 66 fastback ...do any one know of a front suspension and steering upgrade by using parts from a newer car instead of buying a kit..for us without deep pockets but alot of mechanical ability

I am doing a resto mod 66 coupe and I used the Rod & Custom motorsports front suspension, $1695.00 almost complete and you get rid of the shock towers. You end up with modern r&p steering and new disk brakes and it all fits great.
I have a question about using a c4 trans with a !987 ho engine, can I use the flex plate from the 66 c4 with out modifing anything ( in the old 66 engine external balanced with flex plate and the 1987 ho internally balanced).

The rod and custom kit is a mustang 2 kit and its kinda a downgrade next to the oem design these cars have. There is nothing off anything newer you can use with out spending a lot of time making it fit and work.Your kinda stuck buying a kit.Broomfieldc you need a new flexplate the older one will throw your engine out of balance and shake like hell.

dcsimons, this article may be a good place to start, you can make these old cars drive really nice with the right chosen upgrades and w/o breaking the bank:

It all depend on how much nicer you want it to drive and how much you want to spend.
