Pop the distributor cap off and see how many sets of points are inside the distributor. It's pretty likely that you do unless your car is a Hi-Po or a Shelby or unless someone put in a dual point kit at some time. Of course, I am assuming that your distributor is stock and not an aftermarket one.

that is my engine but it is not a acgtually hipo because i only have a two barrel carb, but some work was done to the car before i got it so if that would make a difference on my selection of a pretonix unit

Have to take the distributor cap off to see if it's a single or dual points unit. 99.999% sure it's a regular single point distributor. I'd go with the simple pertronics I kit and enjoy the benefits.
follow the instructions closely.

I believe you should just get the pertronix 2, it's newer so I assume it's better technology. Just be sure you get the correct coil to match the unit and wire everything up properly.

ok i took of the cap and looked around yea its single and the only reason i lean towards the petronix 11 is because i was told it wont burn out if you accidentally leave the key on wether or not that is true would be my descion maker.

I have absolutely no experience with Pertronix at all so I can't give an opinion other than to say either one would be a vast improvement over the points system you currently have.

Either one will work for a daily driver. I have used both on several different engines.
I currently have a petronix I in my 70. Works great. accidently left the key on for 3 days and once i charged the battery everything works fine.
