Default Axle swap: 2007 V6 to 65 I6

I'll soon be swapping out my 2007 Mustang's 7.5 rear axle for a 8 with traction lock. I was thinking about also swapping the 65's 7.5 out with the 2007's 7.5 and pick up disc brakes in the process. I know they are 5 lug and I'll have to change the front spindles, etc. from a granada to make it a 5 lug all the way around, but has anyone done this or seen this done?
Will the bolt patterns match?

The 05+ rear axles are quite a bit wider than a 65 - like 6" wider if I remember my measurements correctly.

Well its too wide it has the mounts for rear control arms and coil springs where your 65 is leaf springs.By the time you shorten the rear end cut off all the mounting tabs weld on spring perches you could buy a used 8 inch for it that bolts right in.Sell the newer rear end and find you a 64-66 mustang 8 inch for it.

Stay between 64-66 and you would not have any mod to do. Everything Will just bolt right in.

This

If you really wanna get fancy get a 8.8 3.73TL out of a '99 or so Ford Explorer. Disc brakes and all ready to go. Well, you'll need to cut it to the right length but it's a bad *** swap and people who've done it are happy. There's a thread on the forum detailing it. Search for "Ford Explorer 8.8 rear end swap". Or something like that.
